Reducing Overwhelm and Delegating

[Embarrassing Video…]

This week I was thinking about how quickly my calendar fills up. (What a great problem to have, right?) Tasks both big and small were clogging my days and I was on the verge of overwhelm.

But then I recalled a conversation that I had with my dad 35 years ago – about pantyhose, of all things! – that has stayed with me… and was actually holding me back in my business.

Watch the video below to hear the story and how I applied its lessons to my business.

Many entrepreneurs ask for help in certain areas – with the big tasks and projects – but don’t ask for help with the simple things. Let’s admit it – the simple things are often the time and energy drains!

Let’s look at the math. How much is your time worth as a CEO? Now, how much of your time have you been spending doing work that’s at a lower pay grade than a CEO’s? (Here’s a hint: If you’re cutting your grass or cleaning your house… you’re working at too low a pay grade.) 🙂

Let me guess… you’ve been doing a lot of that.

There’s an opportunity for you as an entrepreneur to do something different because you do your best work in your zone of genius. (And I’m guessing your genius doesn’t lie in lawn care.)

Sit with that for a minute. Your best work is in your zone of genius. Not in the tiny but demanding tasks that add up and take time away from your genius.
